It is living within environmental limits: respecting the limits of the planet and ensuring we protect the resources for future generations.

Plus it ensures a society which is strong and healthy: meeting the needs of everyone in existing and future communities, creating equal opportunity and promoting personal wellbeing.

Building a sustainable economy which provides prosperity and opportunities for all. Promoting good governance in all levels of society, harnessing people’s creativity, diversity and energy.

Basically it’s all about securing the future of the world!

Achievements should be demonstrated in either of the following areas:

  • invention, design or production of goods
  • performance of services
  • marketing and distribution
  • after-sale support of goods and services
  • management of resources or relationships with people or organisations

Assessing sustainable development entries

  • Companies must describe how their activities make a positive contribution to sustainable development
  • Where applicable, quantified data and use of suitable indicators (such as energy use per unit of production, % of waste recycled, % of materials sourced from fair trade sources) will allow assessors to see improvement over time, or an entrant’s high performance relative to comparable organisations

Good entries will demonstrate how sustainability is embedded within a business’s operations, is used to enhance commercial performance and shows there is a strategic vision and level of performance that differentiates them from their peers or competitors.

Operational size and capacity

This award recognises the entrant’s contribution to society, taking account of their size, operational scope and capacity to influence a wider group.

I hope this has given you some help with your entry.

Deadline: 30 September.
