A sheep on the Spinko BIS Display

This week has seen us without Kat in the office; she is taking a well earned week’s leave before we get super-busy making preparations for the opening of this year’s awards on 21 April. Next week the final stage of the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise assessment process takes place. The Prime Ministers Advisory Committee will meet to discuss the short list and then they will send their recommendations to the Palace.

One of last year’s winners is currently on display in our 1 Victoria Street foyer.

As part of celebrating Yorkshire Manufacturing Excellence, Harrison Spinks, who have been making beds since 1840, have a display of their innovative mattress and bed designs and a mystery guest …a sheep! But why a sheep? Harrison Spinks also own a sheep farm so they can source all their own wool for the manufacturing of mattresses, and they are investing in environmentally friendly crops to make Hempure blend fillings.

They have recently benefited from the BIS manufacturing support programme, Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) help in the training of the next generation of factory managers.

We love your videos and this week we are delighted to give a thumbs up to ‘Tomcat’ and ‘Harrison Spinks’ who both filmed videos of their Lord Lieutenant presentations.
