Metal Events - small business, big winner!

I spent a very pleasant couple of hours this afternoon in the company of Metal Events Limited, as a guest at their Queen’s Awards presentation ceremony.

Rachel Carnac and Jill Fitzgibbon in the office.
Rachel Carnac and Jill Fitzgibbon from Metal Events.
Rachel and Jill formed Metal Events around 11 years ago, taking a huge leap of faith to set up on their own and have never looked back.

As is always the way when I meet Queen’s Awards winners, I was so impressed by their drive and commitment and fully deserving of this recognition of their achievements. I won’t say too much because I hope that Rachel or Jill might share their story on this blog themselves, but they are proof that even the smallest businesses can win the Award – the 2 of them were the only employees at the time, and they are still just a team of 3 full-timers!

A tip that Rachel shared with me... really tell your story in your entry form. Give the reader a sense of who you are and how you’ve achieved your success; bring out some emotion! She thought that this was the difference in their entry form last year compared to their 2012 entry, which was very factual and detached and wasn’t successful.

It was lovely to meet Rosi Prescott, Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Greater London and Mark Bennett, Lord Mayor of Lambeth – both present at the ceremony to congratulate Metal Events. And both big fans of the Queen’s Awards too!

The Palace Reception is nearly upon us - I look forward to seeing Rachel and Jill and all the 2013 Queen’s Awards winners there very soon!

Would be great to know what the company does! Looking forward to hearing their story but a bit disappointing not to have any info on that in this article.

      Hi Rachel,
I wondered if you had had an opportunity to work on a post for us, please? Such a good story, I am sure others would be interested to hear it.
      Best, Linda
